Chained and about to die of starvation, they rescue the orangutan that was torn from its mother

Undoubtedly, animals are beings that suffer and suffer like humans, it is shameful that there are people capable of treating them with evil.

Bujing is an orangutan who was torn from his mother’s arms by poachers as a baby. Not content with that, they took his life in front of his eyes and took him into captivity to later sell him in the illegal pet trade.

Unfortunately, the hunters quickly found buyers , an Indonesian couple who claimed to “love animals.” Bujing was sold for approximately $35.

At first, the couple treated Bujing as if he were a human baby, bathing him, feeding him milk. But when this little orangutan began to grow, the couple couldn’t handle the situation and ended up chaining him outside their house.

Once Bujing was in chains, his owners no longer fed him regularly, and Bujing began to run away to steal food from neighbors.

It was in 2014 that Bujing’s miserable life finally took a turn for the better as officials from the local forestry department and the International Animal Rescue (IAR) team learned of the mistreatment of the 5-year-old male orangutan and ran in your aid.

After running away to a neighbor’s house, Bujing returned with a couple of deep gashes on his back that appeared to have been caused by a sharp object.

A statement from the International Animal Rescue (IAR) explained that they rescued this poor animal after finding it dead of hunger and with poorly healed wounds. They arrived at the right time!

“When we arrived, Bujing had not eaten for 3 weeks and his owners had treated his wounds with tobacco as traditional medicine. Although the wounds had already closed, they were still visibly inflamed.

The rescue team was greatly alarmed by the orangutan’s condition . He lived chained to the side of the house. He looked very thin and had no hair due to malnutrition , which had also affected his growth.

If help had not arrived, Bujing probably would not have lasted much longer.

“He was extremely malnourished and emaciated. It’s hard to imagine that he could have survived much longer under that condition.”

The rescue team spoke to the owners and explained the illegality of keeping an orangutan as a pet, and the couple voluntarily surrendered Bujing.

“While we are relieved to have freed him from his shocking situation, it is upsetting to think that he lived like this for a long time.”

The team immediately transported Bujing to the organization’s rehabilitation center.

“As the transport cage was not allowed on the boat, Bujing traveled outside the cage as a passenger with our rescue team. He is very used to humans, so he was very calm and well-behaved. He would wrap himself in a blanket to keep warm .”

Once he arrived safely at the rehabilitation center, the rescue team began to help him get better.

“We first quarantined him for 8 weeks, this is standard procedure for all new arrivals at our rehab center.”

While he was in quarantine, he was tested to ensure that he did not suffer from any contagious disease. During that time she received nutritious food and supplements to improve her physical condition.

«Gracias al cuidado de nuestro equipo veterinario y al resto del personal de nuestro centro de rehabilitación, Bujing es un orangután irreconocible, su cuerpo es fuerte, musculoso y peludo».

El equipo de IAR planea liberar a Bujing en la naturaleza tan pronto como sea posible, pero aún necesita aprender algunas cosas más.
